Managing legal hold

If you need to preserve your protected data for legal reasons, R‑Cloud allows you to enable legal hold for the entire subscription, a specific protection set, or selected entities.

For all entities with legal hold enabled, the following applies:

  • Restore points of the entities do not expire, even if the retention period that is set in the R‑Cloud policy is exceeded. You can use these restore points to restore data.

  • Expiring backups manually is disabled for the entities.

  • No retention maintenance tasks are performed for the entities.

After you disable legal hold, the restore points whose retention period was exceeded are expired and removed from R‑Cloud during the next retention maintenance task.

Prerequisite

You must have the Administrator role assigned at the subscription or protection set level.
