Adding compute
Adding one or more AWS accounts, Azure resource groups, or Google Cloud projects to R‑Cloud as compute is necessary in the following data protection scenarios:
-
If you want to protect iManage Cloud, Box, or Microsoft 365 SaaS applications.
-
If your company security policies require using your own compute for creating data movers and you want to protect SaaS applications that do not run natively in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
For instructions on how to add a specific type of compute, see one of the following topics:
| Compute | Instructions |
|---|---|
| AWS account | Adding an AWS account as compute |
| Azure resource group | Adding an Azure resource group as compute |
| Google Cloud project | Adding a Google Cloud project as compute |
To access the Compute dialog box, click Administration, and then select Compute.
Prerequisites
You must have the Administrator role assigned at the level at which you are adding compute (subscription or protection set level).
Considerations
-
In addition to the procedures described in the topics listed above, you can also add compute when setting up a target. For details, see Setting up targets.
-
Compute that is added as a separate part of your data protection infrastructure is not displayed in R-Graph.
-
Adding compute at the subscription level allows you to add compute to multiple protection sets at the same time.
-
To start using the added compute for creating data movers after you add it to R‑Cloud, you must select it in a data mover configuration and assign the data mover configuration to an entity. For details, see Creating a data mover configuration.
